12th/13th September @ Thruxton | September 2009

2 Intermarque Races today with just one qualifying session.

Thruxton is a fast and sweeping track, usually hard on the tyres.

Qualifying was 9.00 a.m. sharp or would have been but we weren't allowed to start engines or or be noise tested until - yes 9.00 a.m!!    When we got out I noticed the noise from the back axle had not gone away - would it last?

Race 1

An OK rolling start, but through the complex of Cambell, Cobb and Seagrave Graham Reeder squeezed his Ferrari past me.  I tucked in behind him and worked on finding the best place to retake the lead.

Before I could attempt that Nic King's car had a drive train problem that took him off the track and set his car alight.  The race was stopped.  Hopefully he is now fully recovered.  At the re-start I followed the yellow Ferrari and after 2 laps re-took the lead and held it to the finish.

Race 2

This was pretty much a repeat of the first race with Graham getting past me early on but this time only for a lap and a bit.  After this he was too busy keeping Bob Searles (3rd in Race 1) behind him.  Eventually the pressure Bob was applying paid off and Graham spun going into the club chicane.

The final order of V8 Astons in first and second hasn't been seen in an Intermarque Race for a long time.
