With my maximum possible score of 5 wins (500 points) out of 5 Championship races I could get no more points.  I could not be beaten in the Classic section of the Championship but possibly could be beaten in the overall standings by some peculiar scoring system!

As the V8 engine was still in bits I decided to use the N24 which to date has had little use this year and then let me down in 3 out of 5 races entered.

Qualifying was OK, and I soon got into the N24 groove.  It was pleasing to be the quickest N24 on parade!  3rd behind John Bussell (DB5) and Darren McWhirter (Zagato replica) was pretty good.  Qualifying for the Intermarque race was pretty busy but again I was pleased to be 5th ahead of all the Ferraris and other N24s.

Race 1 - Classic Championship

At the start I got alongside John Bussell but he held the line through Copse and slowly he and Darren McWhirter (eventual winner) pulled clear of me.  I was running a comfortable 3rd with Les Goble in George Millar's identical car behind me.  It all became a bit messy when Les tried the first of 2 dives "up the inside".  Both ended in contact.  The first spun both of us and we rejoined in the same order as we had been.  The second resulted in Les getting ahead of me, but I recovered and crossed the line in 3rd place.  Regretfully there was then more confusion and considerable angst.  The positions however stood.

Race 2 - Intermarque

The Intermarque race became interesting after a couple of cars dropped out/spun and again I was racing hard for 3rd place, firstly with Bob Searles, then with Robon North, but I managed to hold them both off to get my second podium of the day.

Qualifying:

Classic Championship: 3rd in 1.36.497 (83.90mph)

Intermarque: 5th in 1.36.820 (83.62mph)

Results:

Classic Championship: 3rd and class winner

Intermarque: 3rd and class winner in 21.22.568 (82.06mph)

Best lap: 1.35.540

We were helped in the pits by Steven Wills, whose polishing of the car must have contributed to its speed.
