GT Cup - Brands Hatch

The second time we joined GT Cup in the N24 - albeit their last (and our last) event of the year.

A wet and windy day dawned at Brands.  This was my third time in the N24 and the first time in the wet.  The grip provided by the Dunlop tyres was fantastic in the first free practice.  A while later we had second practice and I was able to improve my time.  In qualifying it was not as wet, but that meant the wet tyres were soon 'past their best'

Sunday

Race 1 was at 11.30 and surprisingly it was dry!   A rolling start - very hectic.  Unfortunately I spun exiting Graham Hill Bend on lap 5.  Once I worked out which way I was facing I got going again!  I managed to pick up a couple of places, but then on lap 13(!) the race was red flagged following a pile up at Paddock Hill Bend.  I ended up 17th overall and 2nd in class.

Race 2 was mid afternoon and the track was wet but drying slightly (so quite greasy).  Another hectic start and I was a bit too gentle so ended up behind a Lotus and Ferrari in my class.  It took me a while to catch up to the Ferrari and ultimately pass him.  I then set off after Matt's Lotus and was catching him but then with the leaders lapping us and my rear tyres going off, time was passing so I had to settle for another Class 2nd and 11th overall.  A fastest lap in class was also a bit of consolation.
