Two support races for British Touring Car Championship.
A bit of deja vue in that we took the 1971 DBS to race at Snetterton as we weren't sure the V8 would be ready following its transmission problems at its last race.
It was raced last year a few times by Ant but John Bussell and I had not raced it since 2005. However the sun was shining.
Qualifying was just 20 minutes, John went out first and did 5 laps including our best time of 1.20.378. I then did 7 laps with a best of 1.21.459. We ended up in 8th place out of 37 cars.
Race 1
John started out and put in some quick laps over the first 10 minutes before pitting for our driver change (he then went off to do a second stint in Ian McCalling's D5). I had a pretty uneventful run to the end of this 30 minute race and we finished in a very respectable 8th place.
Race 2
John again started and found himself stuck behind a couple of cars and the DBS just doesn't have enough horsepower to blast past. So at the driver change Paul and Kevin attempted to tape a wayward passenger side quarter light back into position before I resumed. This race was 40 minutes so I had a good stint, without incident and maintaining a steady 9th place to the end. Not a bad result for the DBS. Interestingly, also the first time my best lap was quicker than John's - but he was held up! Also interestingly about 2 seconds quicker than we managed here in 2005.
