Race Calendar & Results

It should have been a good, busy weekend.  However the '73 V8 Aston has a suspected head gasket problem, which was not resolved in time for this meeting, which was a shame as I think we would have had a good chance of 2 wins.

So it was just the N24/GT4 Aston in the GT Cup.  Only the second GT Cup event this year.  This car is so different from the historics!! 

In qualifying I was not getting to the limit of the slick tyres and consequently some 2 seconds off the time of the quickest similar car.

In the first race I got that gap down to 0.3 seconds but loss of 3rd and 5th gears brought my race to an end after just 8 laps. 

The chaps thought they had resolved the problem for the second race, but regretfully it reoccurred.  The laps I had however were quite interesting with some very close racing including having to take to the grass at full tilt to avoid others who appeared oblivious to cars other than their own! 

So all I had to show for the weekend was:

Motorhome broke down on way to Donington

Race car lost gears so 2 races DNF!

I hope normal service is resumed at Castle Coombe.
